Please become a Friend!

As you are aware, these are difficult financial times for educational services such as ourselves. The remains of our public funding is under review and it is likely that the Music Centre will need to be financially independent in the near future. Membership subscriptions pay for about half of our expenses so to secure a long-term future we must find new sources of income.

We would be very grateful if you would consider helping us by becoming a Friend of Devon Youth Music - South. Please see this appeal from our Treasurer which gives details of what you can do to help. If you do make a donation, please complete this gift aid declaration form which allows us to reclaim the tax on your subscription at no cost to you.

What we do

The Friends of Devon Youth Music - South are responsible for the music centre and its activities. We:

  • are the governing body for the Torbay and South Devon Music Centre;
  • are the trustees of the registered charity;
  • meet regularly to set policies and guide the management of the Music Centre;
  • raise most of the money needed to run the Music Centre;
  • provide practical assistance at weekly meetings and concerts.

Our Annual General Meeting was held on Friday 9th November 2012 at Torquay Boys Grammar School. Here is a review of the Music Centre by the Friends of Devon Youth Music - South, including some bar charts showing the distribution of students and our finances.

Please help!

If you share our conviction that music-making is a priceless experience for young people, we would welcome your support and friendship. Please contact us if you might be able to spare a little of your time to help on Friday evenings (not necessarily every week) or at concerts; or might consider joining our committee; or could be involved in fund-raising activities.

If you would like to help but are not sure how, or do not have much time to spare, please talk to us anyway - there will be something useful you can do!
