Newsletter Spring 2012

Newsletters keep you in touch with news and events at music centre. Please read and keep for a while, so you know what is happening.

  • Please pay fees due for this term as soon as possible.
  • Through a generous donation, we are able to buy some new instruments. We are also able to offer a grant of £500 to help a music centre member buy their own instrument, particularly if you need to replace a beginner instrument with a better quality instrument to help your progress. If you wish to be considered, please apply to Alicia by letter at PO Box 219, Newton Abbot, TQ12 4XU, by May 25th 2012, with details of why you wish to be considered.
  • Please ask for a form and a recycling bag for printer cartridges and old mobiles, to help us raise money for music and instruments.
  • Music centre members should stay on site until collected at the end of your ensemble. Please do not leave the schools between ensembles, for your own protection and safety. The Boys' Hall is staffed throughout, and is the best place to wait to be collected.
  • THIS TERM'S CONCERT is at the Ariel Centre, Totnes on Sunday, 18th March at 3pm. This concert is an opportunity for the smaller groups to perform. The Flute Choirs, Double Reed Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, Concert Strings, Youth Strings, Concert Wind, Fast Forward groups, Saxophone Ensemble, Swing Band and Brass Ensemble will be taking part. Tickets will cost £5 and £3 at the door or in advance at music centre. Please wear smart clothes for the concert!
  • Please parents - even if your child is older, come and support the younger members. Performance is a vital part of music education, and we need a good audience!

  • We would welcome contributions to the raffle at the concert. For this concert can we ask that you bring a small contribution to the interval refreshments? Biscuits, cakes, and savouries would be welcome. The music centre will provide drinks at no charge.
  • Remaining rehearsals for this term are on 24th February, 2nd, 9th and 16th March. After a break for Easter music centre resumes on 20th April. The summer concert will be on Friday 6th July at 7pm, in the Centenary Hall at the Boys' Grammar School.
