Newsletter November 2008

Newsletters keep you in touch with news and events at music centre. Please read and keep for a while, so you know what is happening.

Please pay fees due for this term as soon as possible.

Music centre members should stay on site until collected at the end of your ensemble. Please do not leave the schools between ensembles, for your own protection and safety. This is particularly important now the clocks have changed and the evenings are darker. The Boys' Hall is staffed throughout, and is the best place to wait to be collected.

THIS TERM'S CONCERT is at Torquay Boys' Grammar School, in the Centenary Hall (set back between the Music Suite and the main building) on Friday, 28th November at 7.30pm. This concert is for all music centre groups; Tickets will cost £5 and £2.50 at the door, and £4.50 and & £2 if bought before 28th November at music centre.

Seating rehearsal schedule at the Centenary Hall on Friday 30th November:

4.30 pmClarinet Choir, Concert Strings, Flute Choirs
5.00 pmBrass Ensemble, Percussion, Swing Band
5.30 pmSaxophone Ensemble
6.00 pmYouth Orchestra, Youth Strings
6.30 pmConcert Wind, Double Reed Ensemble
7.00 pmDoors open for the audience

Please wear smart black and white for the concert, with festive touches.

We would welcome contributions to the raffle at the concert. Please see Dorothy at the tuck shop.

Calling all clarinetists - on 23rd December between 10am - 4.30pm there will be a busking session at Powderham Country Stores. Why not come along and join in for a couple of hours, and do some shopping at the same time? It's always good fun, and the café is good as well!

Remaining rehearsals this term are on 14th and 21st November. After the concert on 28th November, there will be a break until 9th January.

Dates for your diary - Autumn concert Friday 28th November at 7.30pm; clarinets at Powderham 23rd December; Music Centre AGM Friday 16th January at 5.30pm.

Happy music-making!
